About the update
We’re making earnings more predictable and waiting less frustrating. Task fees are now more balanced, with longer deliveries paying more and short tasks slightly less than before. You will also receive an extra fee for unexpected delays and get real-time demand insights through the City Heat Map.
We’ve listened to your feedback and know that some of the most frustrating parts of delivering are waiting for the next task on the street and waiting for late orders at venues. We’ve also seen that longer deliveries haven’t been paid as well as shorter ones. With these updates, we are tackling several challenges raised by couriers at once. At the same time, we are also launching some of the top-requested new features that will help you get more out of your online time.
In order to continuously improve the platform, updates are necessary – especially in such a fast-growing industry like the one we operate in. The updates rolled out now aim to fix imbalances, improve the predictability of earnings, and introduce new features that will improve your delivery experience.
If you have been informed that the updates have launched in your city, you might need to update your Partner App in order to see the new features. The updates are not available in all cities yet, so if you have not received a message from us yet, stay tuned for more information about when they are launching in your city.

Pricing Updates
No, average earnings for time spent delivering will stay the same before and after this update. This update is about making earnings more balanced and predictable across different task types. It’s true that shorter tasks will pay less than before, but longer tasks will pay more, and higher fees for delays at venues will add consistency. The overall goal is to improve the predictability of earnings while keeping the flexibility of delivering with Wolt.
From your feedback and data insights, we learned that longer tasks haven’t been paid as well as shorter ones. When there are imbalances like this, some couriers spend a portion of their online time waiting for the “best tasks”, which can impact both their earnings and the customers’ experience negatively. Now, no matter which tasks you accept, the time and effort needed to earn the same amount will be more consistent.
What we mean is that it will be easier for you to know what to expect when you go online or accept a task. Before, the delivery demand overview only showed the status for the whole city, but now you will be able to see a real-time map showing how busy your area is, if you deliver in a bigger city. This will help you decide where to head to, and predict how much you can earn if you stay online. When a task is offered to you, the task fee will now better reflect the time it takes to complete the task, and you don’t have to worry about delays at the venue.
Yes! Each task fee is calculated based on the effort and time needed, so even though the shortest tasks will pay a little less than before, they are priced to be worth the short time it takes to complete them.
Waiting time
When you accept a task, you can see the expected pick-up time. If the order still isn’t ready 3 minutes after this time, our systems will start a timer to calculate how much the task fee needs to be adjusted. The timer stops when the order is picked up. You will be able to see the adjusted task fee in your Finances tab as soon as your task is completed.
The added fee is intended to make it less frustrating for you to wait a couple of minutes extra but for longer delays, but it might sometimes make better sense for you to un-assign yourself and get a new task instead. You are always free to decide what you prefer in each situation. If you choose to wait for +3 minutes, you will be able to see the adjusted task fee in your Finances tab as soon as your task is completed.
The adjusted fee is set at a level that makes it less frustrating for you to wait a couple of minutes extra, but you are always free to write Support and un-assign yourself from an order, if you prefer to be available for a new task offer instead of waiting at the venue. After 10 minutes of waiting time, the task fee will no longer be adjusted, which could be a good time for you to evaluate whether it’s still worth it for you to wait – this is up to you to decide what you prefer in each situation. This might vary depending on the busyness in your city – if demand is high, it might be worth limiting your waiting time in order to get the most out of your online hours.

City Heat Maps
City heat maps show a real-time overview of incoming orders in each area of your city. The flames on the map indicate how busy each area is, where no flames means low activity and three flames show a high number of incoming tasks. The heat maps refresh every 10 minutes, so you always have the latest insights.
Yes! The heat maps currently refresh every 10 minutes and show a real-time overview of incoming orders in your city. This might change over time as the heat maps will get more precise.
The flames on the map indicate how many incoming orders there are in each area of your city. This can help you make better decisions about where and when to deliver, but it does not serve as a guarantee for action. If the general city status is “low”, it means that there are other couriers online who might also head towards these busy areas for tasks.
The heat map indicates how many incoming orders there are in each area of your city, but when you exit the map, you see the overall balance between online couriers and live orders for the whole city. That’s why you might still see the general status being “low” even though you are in an area with more action. No matter what the status of the city is, it can be helpful to open the heat map and get a more detailed overview in each area.
The City Heat Maps will only be available in larger cities with several potential hotspots. For smaller cities with one main hotspot, the Heat Maps will not offer much additional valuable information – heading to that one hotspot will be a good way to increase your chances of getting offered a task. If you are unsure about where the hotspot in your city is, you can always ask the Support Team.
